About Phototology

Phototology was born from a shoebox of family photos. Undated. Unlabeled. Slowly fading.

The Origin

Hundreds of photos spanning four decades sat in a box under a bed. No dates on the backs. No captions. No organization. The people in them were aging, and the stories behind each image were disappearing faster than the prints were fading.

The first version of Phototology was a script that sent photos to a vision model and asked for date estimates. It worked, sometimes. But vision models hallucinate. They guess. They produce different answers for the same photo on different days. That was the problem: photos deserve deterministic, structured, evidence-backed context. Not another guess.

So Phototology became something different. Not a chatbot that describes what it sees, but an engine that extracts structured intelligence from images. 14 composable analysis modules. Evidence chains that show their work. Context that gets embedded into the file itself as EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata. Intelligence that lives forever, not just until the next API call.

The Photos Know.

Agents are unpredictable. Your data should not be. Phototology generates structured, deterministic, domain-relevant context for any use case.

The Mission

Phototology is the structured visual intelligence layer for AI agents and developer workflows. Every image analyzed through the platform produces deterministic, composable context that any system can consume without running its own vision model.

The Phototology Registry remembers every analysis. Once a photo is enriched, its context is accessible forever by perceptual hash. Pay once. Benefit forever. No redundant calls. No wasted compute. Just structured intelligence, ready when your agent needs it.
